Taking Percentage Score off of Elementary Online Assessments

Students do not develop their understanding of percentages until end of 4th, mastery towards 5th. It is not appropriate and truly defeating for children to read a percentage score at the end of an online assessment. Even though they don't have a well developed understanding, they know what a 90 or 100 is and placing a percentage score is developmentally inappropriate. It not only is discouraging but the program is designed to continue moving forward with spiral review helping to support mastery, so a percentage communicating a mastery score should not apply. If a score of a sort needs to be applied, put it at a fractional part: total correct over total number of questions.
