Thank you for the feedback on this recent change. Savvas strives to provide an excellent customer experience, and as a result of your feedback, we've reverted back to the previous assignment functionality. When we revisit this area for updates in the future, we'll make sure to keep the key features that maintain critical functionality.
Hey Savvas someone from one of your competitors (McGraw? Carnegie? Pearson? hard to know for sure) seems to have hacked into your system to make it totally unusable right before Christmas break!
This change just separates the playlist into individual assignments. This creates much more clutter and confusion as one assignment is now turned into multiple. We already had the option to assign various assignment individually if that is what we wanted to do - so I fail to see how this change was productive in the slightest.
With this current model, the playlist feature is essentially useless when it used to be one of the better features in the curriculum. If what we are experiencing is not the intended format of the change - then it should be changed back to the previous format until fixed. As of now, this increases the workload massively on our end and increases confusion and clutter on the student end.
Proposed Solution:
Clear List View: Display individual assignments in a numbered list format to enhance visibility and clarity.
Progress Indicator: Include a progress indicator (e.g., 1/3, 2/3, 3/3) next to each assignment to help students track their progress within the playlist.
Prominent "Turn In" Button: Position a highly visible "Turn In" button at the end of the assignment list to encourage timely submission of all completed assignments.
Visual Cues: Utilize visual cues such as progress bars or checklists to provide a more intuitive overview of assignment completion status.
Grading Preferences:
Single Grade for Playlist: I prefer assigning a single grade for a playlist of activities to facilitate holistic assessment and streamline the grading process.
Individual Grading Option: The ability to assign individual grades for specific activities should remain available for flexibility.
By implementing these changes, we can significantly improve the student experience, increase assignment completion rates, and simplify the grading process for both students and teachers.
Playlists do not get assigned as playlists anymore........ I understand that the update allowed for the bulk selection of assignments to be assigned individually rather than making a "ghost" playlist, but the playlist feature now does not get assigned as a "bulk" assignment.
To my knowledge this update was due to the fact that students bulk assignments were getting graded inaccurately, though for differentiation and for my organization this needs to get fixed asap. I have communicated to my students that the grades they receive in SAAVAS are not what is inputted into gradebook as the accuracy can be a bit off.
Please fix the playlist part, If I create a playlist and assign it to students the program still breaks it into the individual assignments. When contacting support they walked me through it and stated that this is not true and a playlist was visible when they logged into the "test" account.
This is no the case for me and my students, I believe this is because the roster is owned by google classroom..... I then troubleshooted by assigning through clever/ my Pearson roster.... still not visible to students in a playlist.
For grading the three grade levels I am teaching this is going to be very time consuming, please revert my account to the old update if possible. To do this between thanksgiving and Christmas break is crazy..... please fix asap
Please revert back to how it was. This is highly inconvenient.
Why would you do this? My students are freaking out about this change.
Did the people at Savvas have hard drugs injected into their Thanksgiving turkey? This is the WORST idea. My only theory is that you are trying to get us to buy your textbooks over Christmas because you are making your computer software unusable. Did you fire your software engineers or something? Please fix this.
Please, please, please go back to the bulk assignment of items. I typically post the student interactive lesson, the extra examples and the videos as one assignment for those who are absent. Making this multi-step post is cumbersome and incredibly confusing. I nearly fainted when I saw things post individually and ended up deleting what I wanted to have in Google Classroom because it's way too much to look at. Also, when each of these post separately, it increases my time to go into Google Classroom and move each item to where I want it. This was a terrible 'enhancement'!
I also like the original posting before the enhancement because I could date and name the posting. I cannot do this now UNLESS I go into each individual Google Classroom and rename the assignment. I don't have time for that!!
This new feature is awful. Savvas and Google Classroom have become a cluttered mess. Please revert back to the previous way of grouping assignments.
Please revert back. playlists are unusable until this is remedied.
I agree. the recent change has made the last few weeks before Christmas break even worse for teachers
This adds confusion to the kids thinking they have multiple assignments and quit after 1 checkmark is done. Leave it the way it was (the ability for one jumbo assignment) before this update.
