Particulate Diagrams error

In Investigation 1, Experience 3, the Quiz on Conservation of Matter includes a particulate diagram that is supposed to represent methane, CH4. But the particulate diagram shows CH3. The point of the question is to demonstrate particles are conserved. How can that be done when the atom counts are wrong?
