When students take the diagnostic (MSDA), it would be great if there was an answer choice of "I don't know" or "I haven't learned this yet" because otherwise they are forced to randomly choose an answer.

When students take the diagnostic (MSDA), it would be great if there was an answer choice of "I don't know" or "I haven't learned this yet" because otherwise they are forced to randomly choose an answer. It's hard to convince students to randomly pick any answer. This is very challenging for students with test anxiety or students who feel like they have to figure it out. They are more likely to hit "I don't know" than randomly pick an answer. Also, the data becomes less valid because they may randomly choose an answer and it is right.

Discussed with Learning Analytics team. All assessment items would need to be field tested again, and the assessments would need to be re-normed and re-scaled.
