All text in Realize should have an audio option.
We are working on a new feature that will enable audio read-alouds of text in assessments in Realize. This is one of the top voted features, and we're excited to be working on a more comprehensive solution. That said, we likely will not build a feature to support text to speech in all areas of Realize, as this request is looking for. For true accessibility concerns, please note that our system is WCAG 2.1 AA compliant and works quite well with screen reader applications. Our use of embedded audio read-alouds is not intended to replace the need for a screen reader. Instead, we offer embedded audio read-alouds so that students have a mix of modalities when learning and also when taking assessments.
Please make all student online materials text to speech. We want disabled students to be able to access all the same information as their neurotypical counterparts. They might not be able to read the question, but when given them verbally they can answer the question. Many of our students have the accommodation of text to speech or tests/ quizzes read and this would help everyone out.
This enhancement is essential. It is available in virtually all apps that require students to read so that the material is accessible to students who function at all reading levels. There are many learning disabled students who are able to perform math calculations; however, reading the word problems holds them back. Speech to text is the missing link to success for these students.
We appreciate you taking the time to submit your valuable idea to the Realize development team. Your input is important to us, and we are considering it as a potential future enhancement to the Realize platform.
Your voice matters, and we encourage you to continue voting and sharing your thoughts with colleagues. This will help us identify which ideas are the most impactful for our users. Thank you again for contributing to the improvement of Savvas Realize.
