Allow students and teachers to unsubmit and resubmit assignments

Students often realize they didn't complete a task. It would be nice for them to be able to unsubmit their assignment and resubmit after completing their task. This option would also allow students to correct mistakes to gain mastery of information.

This has been an asked for feature since 2016 when I started working in Realize for myPerspectives as an EC. At the time we were told that this was an enhancement that would be done in the future...so our long time users have an expectation that this update will happen. We have been using some form of work around since 2016-17 and telling teachers that we understand their needs and and that an update was on the roadmap. IF we want teachers to use Realize then they need to have the flexibility just like they do with paper pencil assignments to redo and reassign.

For those interested, here are some notable items for this feature request.

    1. This can be done today by teachers only for assessments only.
Return Assigned Assessments and Allow Students to Resubmit

    2. For non-assessments, here is the current teacher 2-step process/workaround without creating a new assignment.
Delete an Assignment for a [single] Student
Edit Assignments and add a student [back] to the assignment

When we give students assignments, we allow for 2 attempts before it is graded in Canvas. Sometimes students submit the incorrect assignments or they don't finish it completely and realize that later. It would be extremely beneficial for us to have the option of giving them 2 submission attempts up front before the assignment is even opened, just incase a mistake is made. I do not want to have to go back in and create a new assignment for a student who needs to fix something each time. I think that would be a nightmare! :o)

This feature is critical in our pilot heavy market.

As a teacher, a resubmit option is extremely helpful! It allows students to redo an assignment to gain better understanding of the material they missed. If a student can't resubmit on the platform, it requires more work for the teacher. Having an unsubmit/resubmit option on all assignments is extremely important across all subject areas and grade levels!

This is one of the most asked for features from pilot teachers.

It has been confusing for teachers to have the ability to return an assessment but not other assignments. This should be a priority to make this function equitable across all assignments. It is one of the most asked for features from pilot teachers.

This feature is often requested by teachers. It is especially important for pilot opportunities where we want teachers to have a positive experience using Realize. Pilot teachers and students have limited experience with the Realize platform, and students make errors or click submit by mistake. It would eliminate teacher frustration to be able to simply return the assignment back to the student.

As a Curriculum Specialist in a pilot-heavy market, I have received questions from teachers regarding this issue. Allowing unsubmit and resubmit options would be especially helpful for teachers with populations of student with IEPs and 504 plans.

This has happened to me many times and I have had to go completely re-assign another path for the kiddo. This would be so much easier.

Unsubmit Feature

In the minilessons, if a student forgets to click a check mark, they are not able to get their grade. I think that all assignments should be able to be unsubmitted after they have clicked "turn in" because if a student misses something or forgets ...

Allow teachers to unsubmit a student's essay in EssayScorer if the student accidentally submits it before the student is ready.

Often, students will "accidentally" click the submit button before they are ready to submit their essays, and there is presently no way for the teacher to undo that mistake.

I would like to be able to unsubmit homework assignment.

Students have "accidently" submitted their work before they are finished, and they would like to get their work back so they can finish it.
