For longer texts like The Metamorphosis (myPerspectives English 10) students need more day-to-day prompts or a packet to keep them emotionally engaged with the character development and their own feelings towards the characters and themes. For example, the Close Read prompts tend to ask skills-based questions (helping verbs, nouns) and even ignore major plot developments rather than prompt personal reflections, and reactions to the story. Attached is an example of what I would love to have from myPerspectives for The Metamorphosis, The Tempest, or other longer texts.
