Hi Chrissie,
The problem of Canvas courses and their sections appearing as a single class in Realize stems from Canvas's LTI integration implementation. Unlike some other Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Schoology, Canvas doesn't distinguish between individual sections within a course when sharing data with LTI partners like Savvas.
Specifically:
Canvas treats the entire course and all its sections as one unit in the LTI data.
Canvas doesn't provide section-specific information to LTI partners.
This differs from other LMS platforms, like Schoology, which treat each section as a separate class.
To address this issue, it would be advisable to submit a feature request or improvement suggestion to Instructure, the company behind Canvas.
