LTI Canvas Integration and Sections

Hello it would be so HELPFUL that with the LTI Canvas integration, that SAVVAS not just import the course, but the sections so teachers can sort through data according to section not a whole course. Realize Math does not sort by section; only the entire course, so a teacher is looking at data large picture which is great, but how can we leverage that to support sections?

    Hi Chrissie,

    The problem of Canvas courses and their sections appearing as a single class in Realize stems from Canvas's LTI integration implementation. Unlike some other Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Schoology, Canvas doesn't distinguish between individual sections within a course when sharing data with LTI partners like Savvas.

    Specifically:

    1. Canvas treats the entire course and all its sections as one unit in the LTI data.

    2. Canvas doesn't provide section-specific information to LTI partners.

    3. This differs from other LMS platforms, like Schoology, which treat each section as a separate class.

    To address this issue, it would be advisable to submit a feature request or improvement suggestion to Instructure, the company behind Canvas.
